Houston 2017 II

As always there were a few special exhibitions at the Houston quilt events, some of which I want to share with you (unfortunately there were some you weren’t allowed to photograph), so here is the first one, the ‘Remembering Sue Garman’ exhibition.
I had heard of her before but to be honest, living on the other side of the pond, I had no idea she was such a prolific quilter and I was amazed by the diversity and quality of her quilts, she mastered so many techniques.

Here is some of her excellent work:

Please check here (click) for the website where you can find her patterns

‘Good Golly’ indeed, it was a beautiful tribute to a fantastic quilter. She left a great legacy , a lot of inspiration in her work.

Houston 2017 I

It wasn’t in my plans for this year, but then it happened anyway: a trip to one of my favorite towns (if not my favorite) to the yearly Houston quilt events.

I can spend a lot of words describing all the fun, the inspiration but best to just show you:-

The main prize winner: Garden Variety Sampler by Janet Stone:

A quilt inspired by a cause close to my heart:-

This was a rather random selection of just a few of the quilts on show, in my next post more on some of the special exhibitions.
