Twice in the
past we had some time in Hong Kong in between flight connections to far away
destinations. Both times we found we had too little time to explore this
exciting city.
So… as emptynesters and with only a small window of opportunity this summer/fall for a
holiday we decided that now was the time to make use of those cheaper tickets
and hotel bookings outside of the main holiday season and head east.
A multifaceted
city, full of energy and contrasts, modern versus traditional, East meets West,
you name it, it is all there, I can go on and on about our adventures those few
days, let me just share a few of them.
The views,
spectacular
From our hotel
room, during the
day
and at night
Traditional Hong
Kong
A visit to the
Big Buddha on Lantau Island by cable car
The hustle and
bustle of the markets during the day
Trying out the
local street food
Ok, we did not
try this..
But these we
loved!
The markets
are just as busy at night especially at the street restaurants
Dinner!
Another night,
another market, another dinner
Not far from
our hotel was the Che Kung temple
On our first
night we watched the famous night time light show on Hong Kong Island from the
Kowloon pier area, when we saw two traditional sampan boats sailing the harbour
at that time.
On our last night we were able to join one of them which was a spectacular way to end a fabulous few days in this impressive city.
It was
fantastic!
